The only thing that's constant in this world is CHANGE......

In this new year, it got me thinking and looking back,
I realised that.....

Cities can grow from olden to modern, within Decades...

We get older and hopefully wiser, within Years...

Seasons change, people change, within Months...

The weather can shift from Sunny...

to Stormy, within a Day!

(ps: I did not change it to black and white mode for the pic above)

But then, throughout all the change, the ups and downs, breakups and makeups, happy and sad,
it's always comforting to know that there is Something that is always constant, always the same,
yesterday, today and forever.
Something not of this world, but has overcome it.
Something we can always rely on because it never changes and is steadfast throughout everything.

Yep, in this new year of 2007, I shall take this Something as my instruction manual for life in the next 365 days and beyond, since I know it can never go wrong and will never be wrong.

What is this Something you may ask?

Christmas is the time....

Admist the lights, the noise, the partying, the merry-making,

the gift wrapping, cards and the presents,

Have you heard the most important message of the season yet?

Bacon-wrapped Enoki mushroom!

It's the holidays again, I had some free time at home so decided to experiment and try out something new that I ate at a restaurant. Woah! It turned out to be pretty good though it's super fattening and sinful! haha...

But then it's extremely simple, just wrap a long slice of streaky bacon around a bundle of enoki/shitake mushroom or baby asparagus (which is what i'm gona try next!), stick a toothpick through to hold it together, then you either just proceed to dump it into the toaster oven for a few minutes 'til it gets crispy or be more chef-y like me and grill it on an non-stick frying pan, no need oil, coz the bacon produces it or unless you want your face to be oozing out oil like a palm tree. Haa.

Anyway, after 10 minutes or so, viola!

You should have a sinful but delicious snack ready for you and your stomach!
Best for munching in front of the television.
Happy tasting!

For my friend living abroad who wouldn't be able to see this year's Christmas lightup...

Takashimaya Lamp post

One of Four fountains that was put up at the road junction. This one's red, the others are white, gold and green.

The colour theme for this year is gold again. In my opinion, it still can't beat the silvery winter theme they had a few years back.
The most magical one being,
Nov 2001, after the last O'level paper: Silvery windpipes hanging on trees in different lengths that reflect all the colours of the rainbow when light gets into them.
It was good times. Or maybe it was the people I was around with at that time,
my best friends from Cedar=)

Looking for Answers......

Look what I found in the library!
Now if only every school had one of this for its students then we wouldn't have to worry so much about exams and stuff......
Unfortunately like in real life,
the answers are never clear, always blur
and not as thick and complicated as one would expect!

You Know You Have Gained Weight When....

1) You realised that the only part of the body exercised is your mouth and that you have developed strong cheek muscles from stuffing your face too much.

2) A barricade of "no entry" has been set up so that food doesn't travel like an escalator straight up to your gaping cookie-monster-fied mouth.

3) Your parents consider making a similar sign as above but with your face on it instead.

4) Your tummy gets in the way everytime you open and close the fridge door after raiding it.

5) You have trouble cutting your toenails.

And last but not least,

6) A certain guy named Ronald has recently become your best friend!

Writing assignments........

Add that to the fact that we usually rely on writers we don't know to describe research we don't fully understand, performed by people who often have the financial incentives to mislead the population. Then you will have an idea of how screwed up this whole writing process is.

Bottomline: Sorry lah, but I still hate Writing essays! ARGH......

This is Dedicated to KATHRYN... haha!

WOMAN'S PERFECT BREAKFAST
She's sitting at the table with her gourmet coffee. Her son is on the cover of the Wheaties box.Her daughter is on the cover of Business Week. Her boyfriend is on the cover of Playgirl. And her husband is on the back of the milk carton.

WOMEN'S REVENGE
"Cash, check or charge?" I asked, after folding items the woman wished to purchase. As she fumbled for her wallet , I noticed a remote control for a television set in her purse."So, do you always carry your TV remote?" I asked."No," she replied, "but my husband refused to come shopping with me, and I figured this was the most evil thing I could do to him legally."

WIFE VS. HUSBAND
A couple drove down a country road for several miles, not saying a word. An earlier discussion had led to an argument and neither of them wanted to concede their position. As they passed a barnyard of mules, goats, and pigs, the husband asked sarcastically, "Relatives of yours?" "Yep," the wife replied, "in-laws."

WORDS
A husband read an article to his wife about how many words women use a day.... 30,000 to a man's 15,000. The wife replied, "The reason has to be because we have to repeat everything to men... The husband then turned to his wife and asked, "What?"

And this is for the guys who feel marginalised from reading the top part,

UNDERSTANDING WOMEN (A MAN'S PERSPECTIVE)
I know I'm not going to understand women. I'll never understand how you can take boiling hot wax, pour it onto your upper thigh, rip the hair out by the root, and still be afraid of a spider.

CIGARETTES AND TAMPONS
A man walks into a pharmacy and wanders up & down the aisles. The sales girl notices him and asks him if she can help him. He answers that he is looking for a box of tampons for his wife. She directs him down the correct aisle. A few minutes later, he deposits a huge bag of cotton balls and a ball of string on the counter. She says, confused, "Sir, I thought you were looking for some tampons for your wife?He answers, "You see, it's like this, yesterday, I sent my wife to the store to get me a carton of cigarettes, and she came back with a tin of tobacco and some rolling papers; cause it's sooo-ooo--oo-ooo much cheaper. So, I figure if I have to roll my own .......... so does she. (I figure this guy is the one on the milk carton!)

What the signs are ReALLy saying......

Don't make promises that you can't keep,
or else lightning may strike you!
天打雷劈!!

Don't be taken in by the appearance of things (even if they look good enough to eat!),
you may get hooked unto addictions without even realising it

You may think it is a parking space for the disabled,
but it really is for people with Big Fat Butts!

Anger Management...

In light of certain events, I got to thinking about anger and forgiveness. When a person has angered you or hurt you or betrayed you in some way or another, what do you do about it?
Some people blow up and never talk to the other person ever again, some people hold the anger inside for a long long time, never being able to forgive and let go, some people use hate as a way for their anger and yet others find themselves never being able to trust again.

Regardless, there are also some people who just constantly irritate the hell out of you with their nonsense and here are some thoughts that might help haha...

In the words of one of my friends,

"Some people are alive simply because it's illegal to shoot them!"

From the movie "Anger Management",

Temper's the one thing you can't get rid of, by losing it.

Finally, a lesson I just learned from the Oprah show,

"Being mad and not being able to forgive someone is like taking poison yourself while hoping that the other person dies."

Now...... if I can just resist the thought of being able to viciously pluck the silly little mustache off my smug i-know-it-all-coz-i-read-alot lecturer's face and then using it as fuel for burning all his precious thick chim books at one go whenever he goes rattling insults on all that I believe in....Then I will be fine.
Afterall, "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned" man.. hahaha...

Goosebumps....

Once in a while, you hear someone sing a song so real,so raw and so well that it gives you goosebumps and make the tiny hairs on your arm stand.

Ryan Star totally kicks the butt of ALL the Singapore Fei Chang Idol Super Star/Band/Kid contestants out of the window, straight into the sky to circle round the entire earth at least 3 times man!!

Oh, and multipy that ten times even more when you throw in a cute-as-teletubbies-but-sound equally-as-bad-as-them Joakim (not to mention downright freakingly disturbing that he's still not eliminated!)

Sighz. I just wish that I had cable so that I don't need to put up with the Kid's Central ditties (aka Singapore Idol aspirants' singing) and can finally watch and listen to real good performances at proper singing competitions with fair eliminations.

BirthDay...

Woke up early that morning
To find the sky a deep grey blue
It looked liked it was going to rain,
And I dreaded going to school.

It was a day like no other,
a birthday was its name
So why did God had to go make it pour,
and make it such a bother?

And so I sulked, and I pout,
as i moved my butt about.
Somewhere a little voice whispered,
"Count your blessings, not your grouse"
But I ignored it and left the house.

At school I was late
which meant I had to wait,
til the class had a break.

As I sat at the bench,
I began to ponder
about all my friends.

"Do they care?"

"Do they even know I'm there?"

And a tiny voice answered,
"Of coz they do! You always knew!
Feel the love with your heart. It's more than meets the eye."

I decided to give it a try.

Just as I started to open my heart's gate,
Out pops my friend in red.
All smiles and bouncing cheery
With a book to make me happy!

The next friend I greet,
Offered a bag for me to keep.
Cookies baked with love and care,
more than enough to fill a bear!

I was convinced by my inner voice,

and I knew I had a choice.

Good or bad this day might be,

It was all up to me!

It didn't just stop there,
As I became more aware.
Alas! Something more was BreWing
I was led, unassuming

"Surprise! Surprise!
They all yelled.

Love overflowing was what I felt.

Joy on my right,
Friends on my left.
Laughter in front,
Pardon the pun

Surrounded by the people
Who have known me
Eversince the beginning
Of my journey...

It was then I realised,
That in all my twenty-one years,
My friends are the ones who light up the pages,
In the Story Of My Life.

I may not have found the "special" someone to take care of me yet,

but I know I can count on these people to be there for me and look after me.

These friends are God's "special" way of taking care of me afterall. =)

Thank you all for being part of this birthday!

I Love You All !!!

Time to get started...

Now that the awful make-you-sweatlikeapig-before-you-even-leave-the-bed Singapore weather seems to have pass over, I guess it's no more excuse for me not to go out and exercise abit, it's been ages! Oh and also the lack of outdoors has been taking its toll on my right brain, hence the lack of much entries here due to the demise of my creativity. Haha okay enough crap.

Bye bye Prickly Heat! Time to move my Feet!

The Long Awaited Answer....

Yes my friends, the answer is none other than SLURPEE because the machine keeps churning the ice drink, therefore it is always in "motion" (geddit?)

Peach got the right answer in my comment page but that's because i told her the answer already. So technically she cheated haha!

And the actual winner should be Joy coz she got the closest by mentioning that it was an ice-blend drink.
So Congrats Joy!! You win a free Slurpee from me! (but if you don't remind me it gets forfeited! Haaa....)

ps: Janice, how in the world does crysanthemum tea resemble motion, I don't get the link?!!!

Let's play the guessing game....

Saw this on the menu at the museum cafe in Greece, gave me a shock and I immediately thought of the liquid usually found in a porcelein bowl.....but it's not!

Can you guess what the actual beverage was?

(*hint: it's something commonly found in Singapore too!)

Biblical Signs!

In this age and time, everybody is looking for a sign, a phenomenon or just a clue as to how to live this life and how to go about living in this world. Well, just take a closer careful look and the answer, my friend, is not written in the wind but in the Bible, and basically littered among all the daily things we see. Have a look!

"If we confess our sins,
He is faithful and just
and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness."
1 John 1:9

"So, if you think you are standing firm,
be careful that you don't fall! "
1 Corinthians 10:12

"Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything,
to stand.
Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.
In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God."

Ephesians 6:13-17

(And may I add, earmuffs to snuff out things that are not worth listening to ie.malicious gossip, words people use to put you down...etc
Shades for the eyes, so that you don't see the bad side of people so often.
And gloves, so that you don't anyhow touch things, just for hygenic purposes haha!)

Battle of the sexes...

While in Greece, my brother and I took turns at being models for each other's camera.

Just for the sake of fun, which one do you think is better?

(i don't have an actual voting poll but my comment page is free for you all!)

<-- This is a pic I took of my brother at the tip of the Aegean Sea.

"Quiet Contemplation"

And this is the one he took of me at the same place-->

"Victorious Jubilation"
(okay very lame titles I know..haha)

I'm Back From the Land who gave us Hercules and Feta Cheese!

As some of you may know, the huge time gap between my last entry and this is due to my computer's irrational decision to break down, my laziness at getting it fixed and also my absence from Singapore as I took my annual vacation to the land of the Olympics, Greece.

Greece, also famous for the Aegean Sea and its white-washed-blue-domed-or-doored houses perched at its cliff shores.

It's the home of King Agemennon (the one who started the Trojan war lar) and his death mask, which is suppose to still have a bit of skin attached to it when they dug it out..eeks!

And also ancient Greek temples....

More temples of different shapes, styles and sizes... (Though i kinda pity those 6 female statues who have to support the roof with their heads! haha...)

And of coz, the icon and the thing that represents Athens, the capital city of Greece.
It's none other than the Parthenon!

Okay that's about all i can squeeze in here for now. I must make a point to say that all the photos were taken by me (heehee!) and not copied from some travel brochere yah..haha!

Hope it satisfies those reading this for the time being as I try to finish sorting through my other pictures, and hopefully be able to think out new funny accompanying lines to go with them. Taa!
